SPEAKERS

 

DR. STEVE HUGHES

Steven J. Hughes, PhD, LP, ABPdN is a board-certified pediatric neuropsychologist who specializes in assessment and treatment planning for persons who have problems with attention, concentration, organization, planning, and related executive functions. He also consults with organizations about educational program evaluation, and speaks to groups around the world about developmental education, neurocognitive disorders, parenting, and other topics of interest to parents and educators.

Dr. Hughes is a lecturer at the Maria Montessori Institute in London, and the Montessori Training Center of Minnesota. 

Dr. Hughes serves as Chair of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Global Research Committee. 

 

ULLA WIKEFELDT

AMI Trainer Ulla Wikefeldt is the founder of the Maria Montessori Institutet in Stockholm Sweden. During 15 years, Ulla has been responsible for the AMI education of Montessori teachers for ages 3-6 for the Institution of

Teacher Education, Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden. Ulla has 35 years experience within Montessori - as a teacher and manager of a Montessori preschool for ten years, as a lecturer both nationally and internationally, and as an AMI examiner in Europe, Asia and the USA.

In addition to a BA in Education, and AMI Montessori teacher training, Ulla Wikefeldt has also completed AMI’s 4-year methodology teacher training for ages 3-6. Besides her work in Sweden, she recently co-directed an AMI primary course in Thailand.

 

CLARE HEALY WALLS

Clare Healy Walls is the director of Waterpark Montessori. She lives in Ireland, and has been working in Montessori schools and Montessori teacher training since 1972. 

Apart from extensive experience in Montessori education in Ireland and Scandinavia, she holds an MA in Education (Management) and has done research in adult learning techniques and flexible learning.

Clare Healy Walls is the author of The Conscious Parent, Montessori in a Nutshell and At the Heart of Montessori series.

 

CARLA FOSTER

Carla Foster, AMI elementary trainer, is originally from California, but has spent the last 16 years in Norway, teaching Montessori elementary. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Scandinavian Studies and a Master’s Degree in Old Icelandic Literature and Norwegian Literature from UC Berkeley, before setting her foot upon a Montessori path. She took her AMI 3-6 diploma in London, 6-12 diploma in Milwaukee, and worked in the public Montessori schools in Milwaukee.   

Carla Foster is currently teaching Montessori students at the University College in Vestfold, Norway, in India and USA.

 

EVA-MARIA AHLQUIST

Swedish university degree as an elementary teacher. Diploma at Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), Bergamo, Italy, elementary level 6-12 years. She has 13 years experience as a Montessori Teacher in Stockholm, Sweden. Further education at the Stockholm university in pedagogy, Doctorate studies.

Eva-Marie Ahlquist is responsible for courses related to Montessori pedagogy at Stockholm university. Supervision and development in Swedish Montessori schools.

 

JENNY MARIE HÖGLUND

Jenny Marie Höglund has an AMI diploma for the ages 3-6 and 6-12 and has mainly worked with the 6-12 and adolescents. She also holds a M.Ed. and she is also AMI elementary trainer. 

 

PATRICIA WALLNER

AMI primary (3-6) diploma from Washington, DC, and the Assistants to Infancy (0-3) diploma from Houston, Texas. She has a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Loyola University in Maryland.

After moving to the Netherlands she worked at the AMI office with Mario Montessori Sr. and later directed a bilingual Infant Community (0-3 years old) in Amsterdam for many years. In 1995 she entered the Training of Trainers Program at the 0-3 level. 

Patricia Wallner has established the AMI Assistants to Infancy Programme in two new territories in recent years: Zürich, Switzerland (2010) and Saint Petersburg, Russia (2011).
